Spring Cleaning…A step at a time!

Make a Plan!

First thing’s first, be sure to have realistic expectations on the time frame that will be needed to clean a home. Map out the time needed and make a plan that works well with other plans and responsibilities throughout your week. If you feel like it’s too big of a job reach out to a family member or a friend for help. They are usually more eager to help than you know! Spring cleaning is by no means a one day thing, but with proper maintenance the cleanliness can last for months. And hey!…You can always call a trustworthy maid company to buy back that time you would otherwise spend cleaning. We may have a maid company to hook you up with. 🙂

Here is a step by step plan on how to spring clean a home:

  • Step 1: Declutter
Go through your entire house, room by room, and get rid of anything that you no longer use or need. This could include clothes, books, toys, kitchen gadgets, and more. Consider donating items that are in good condition to charity, or selling them online or at a garage sale.
  • Step 2: Organize
Take some time to organize each room, putting things back in their proper place. This could include organizing your closet, pantry, or desk area.
  • Step 3: Deep Clean the Kitchen
Clean the oven, microwave, refrigerator, and other appliances. Scrub the sink and backsplash, and wipe down all cabinets and drawers.
  • Step 4: Deep Clean the Bathroom(s)
Scrub the shower, tub, and toilet with a cleaning solution, and wipe down all surfaces. Be sure to also clean any mirrors or glass in the bathroom.
  • Step 5: Wipe Down Surfaces
Using a disinfectant cleaner and a clean cloth, wipe down all surfaces in each room. This includes countertops, cabinet faces, nightstands, dressers, baseboards, etc.
  • Step 6: Dust and Vacuum
Dust all surfaces in each room, including shelves, tables, window sills, and other furniture. Then, vacuum or sweep the floors, paying special attention to corners and under furniture.
  • Step 7: Clean Floors
Mop or steam clean hard floors. This will help remove any built-up dirt and grime. Pay special attention to the edges. A scrub brush may be needed.
  • Step 8: Wash Windows and Mirrors
Clean all windows and mirrors using a glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth. Be sure to get rid of any streaks or smudges.

By following these steps, you can give your home a thorough spring cleaning and ensure that it stays clean and organized for the rest of the year.
